Welcome to the home page of Hamilton Hash House Harriers, also known as H4. We were founded in November 1984 by Ken Buchanan after he returned to the UK from Kuala Lumpur where the original hash was formed, you can find out more on the history page of this site.

We are a non-competitive running club based in and around the Hamilton area. Our runs take place within a 15 mile radius of Hamilton every Monday night and start each week from a different nominated pub. During the summer months we like to be out in the countryside, we generally run in country parks such as Strathclyde, Drumpellier and Chatelherault, maybe with the odd street run in the winter months. Great emphasis is placed on the social aspects.

The run is set by a hare who lays a trail of flour for everybody to follow then at the end of each part trail a check-point will appear which is a circle marked out with flour. At this point the hash pack is encouraged to shoot off in different directions to find the correct trail. If we come across an ‘F’ this is a false trail, we then come back to the check-point and an arrow will be there pointing us in the correct direction. The run continues like this until we get back to the starting point / pub - then we go for a beer!
